The Gospel

There is much darkness and confusion taking place all around us. It leaves many scared, worried, and hesitant about the future. Some worry about themselves or maybe their families, but with so much turmoil people are left searching. They are searching for a light, they are looking for hope and there is only one solution. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, John 8:12 “Then spake, Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world...”

Light for the Golden State

A Message from Pastor Scott DEAN

About

Welcome to Elmira Baptist Church! For nearly seven decades, Elmira Baptist Church has been a beacon of hope to the communities of Elmira, Vacaville, Dixon, and Fairfield. What can you expect when you visit us?
Worship is central to all that we do. We do not "do church." We are the church. When we gather it is to worship a God Who is worthy. Worship is not about what we enjoy. Worship is about enjoying God. Congregational singing in which all participate in worship constitutes our meetings on Sunday.
Also, no church can thrive without prayer. Daily, personal prayer in our time with God as well as corporate prayer particularly on Wednesday evening. And not just giving God a shopping list of things we want; rather we pray in order to cooperate with what God is doing in our world. We pray for God's grace in people's lives. Bible study and prayer is our focus on Wednesday.

Pastor Dean and Kristie

Once we have prayed, our goal is to evangelize our community where we live and the people whom we know. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus is the Savior of the world. That is not merely good news for Christians. It is good news for everyone. In addition to being a witness in our daily lives, we set aside Saturday morning for prayer and outreach. And after a person is adopted as God's child, we do not wish to leave him there, immature and alone. Our plan is to make disciples. Our time together in community, fellowship, and serious study increases our desire to be disciples. Our 2026 theme is "I am adopted." What a privilege it is to be a part of God's family! We hope that you will join us in 2026 to worship God, pray, evangelize, and make disciples!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

  • We believe in the Trinity, ONE God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that mankind is lost and separated from God by sin, in need of salvation, and unable to save himself.

  • Salvation is by grace, through faith alone, based upon the finished work of Christ on the cross.

  • We believe in the eternal nature of a literal heaven and hell.

  • We believe that God created the world in six  literal twenty-four hour days according to Genesis account of Creation.

  • We believe in the virgin birth and deity of Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in His sinless life, vicarious death and the bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, where He now intercedes for believers.

  • We believe in the eternal security of the born again believer.

  • We believe in the imminent, pre-tribulational rapture of all believers.

  • We believe in the personal and pre-millennial return and reign of Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the Judgment Seat of Christ for believers and the Great White Throne Judgment for unbelievers.

  • We believe the local church is God’s institution for carrying out His program in this dispensation.

  • We believe in two ordinances for the local church, believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as a memorial.

  • We believe in ecclesiastical and personal separation.

  • We believe the positions of Calvinism and Arminianism are unbiblical.

  • We believe that speaking in tongues and the working of sign miracles gradually ceased as the New Testament Scriptures were completed and their authority became established.

  • We believe in the preservation of God’s Word through the Hebrew Masoretic Text and the Greek Textus Receptus.

  • We believe the King James Version is the best English translation of the Bible.

  • We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Old and New Testaments.

We believe that the Texts which are the closest to the original autographs of the Bible are the Traditional Masoretic Hebrew Text for the Old Testament, and the traditional Greek Text for the New Testament  underlying the King James Version.

We believe that the King James Version (or Authorized Version) of the English Bible is a true, faithful, and accurate translation of these two providentially preserved Texts, which in our time has no equal among all of the other English Translations. The translators did such a fine job in their translation task that we can without apology hold up the Authorized Version of 1611 and say "This is the WORD OF GOD!" while at the same time realizing that, in some verses, we must go back to the underlying original language Texts for complete clarity, and also compare Scripture with Scripture.

We believe that all the verses in the King James Version belong in the Old and the New Testaments because they represent words we believe were in the original texts, although there might be other renderings from the original languages which could also be acceptable to us today.

THE BIBLE
WE BELIEVE

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." Matthew 7:24
